Accommodations: Candy Cane Inn

I really enjoyed CCI. The complimentary breakfast was good: orange/apple juice, coffee, bagels, donuts, fruit, yogurt, three types of cereal, and toast. The room was good size and very clean. Right around the corner from Disneyland. The only "negative" would have to be the fact that the walls are a little thin so late at night when people were coming home from the park and walking by our room we could hear them loud and clear. Not really the hotel's fault... more of people need to be more courteous.

Dining Reservations:

Cafe Orleans (2:30pm 4/15/11): Excellent as always! I had the Mardi Gras Kitchen Sandwich, my mother had the Monte Cristo, and my sister had the Three Cheese Monte Cristo. For appetizers my mom and sister split the gumbo and we all shared the pommes frites. I did try my sister's Three Cheese Monte Cristo and it was tasty, but I don't think I could have eaten all four pieces of it in one sitting. It was interesting to say the least!
Goofy's Kitchen (9:10am 4/16/11): It was really good! I was pleasantly surprised! The food selection was excellent and the food itself was delicious. Service was great. First we took a picture with Goofy at the front, then Chip, Dale, Baloo, Mulan, Aurora, and Pluto walked around and spent a great deal of time with each table, including us! It wasn't super busy so we weren't skipped by any characters and the characters that came to the table while my sister or I were up getting a plate, came back to see us just like they told my mom they would. I really enjoyed the meal!

Disneyland: Solo Trips

I've been to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World by myself. Sometimes, I actually prefer it. You get to do what you want, when you want. You can eat whatever you want without judgement. Plus, you can take it slow and actually absorb your surroundings. So here are my tips to have a fun-filled day at the Happiest Place on Earth solo!

1) Single Rider. A few of the rides at both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure offer a Single Rider line. At Disneyland, single rider is offered at Indiana Jones and Splash Mountain, and at Disney's California Adventure California Screamin', Grizzly River Run, and Soarin'. Single Rider line is a quicker way to get on the above rides. Even for rides that don't offer Single Rider specified lines, sometimes the Cast Members who ask, "How many?" will ask if there is a party of one and you can jump several people. Also, if it's a ride like Space Mountain where there's two people per seat, you can sit with another single rider instead of watching the single person go and waiting for the next train.

2) Meet the characters. This is your chance to get one-on-one time with the characters. Chances are you have lots of pictures with you and your family with the characters, or your kids with the characters. With going alone, you get to choose which characters you want to see. Don't forget your autograph book. Disney is the place to be a kid and what's more fun as a kid than seeing Mickey and Goofy?

3) Party of one? Some people feel very insecure about eating by themselves, especially at Disney where it's a more of a "family" atmosphere. But never fear! Take this time to grab a churro. And some ice cream. And a turkey leg. Here's the best part: you don't have to share and no one is keeping track of what you're eating! If you're more daring, do what I do: go to a sit down restaurant and enjoy a relaxing meal. You can people watch while you eat! Disney is home to some of the best treats so self-indulge! You're at the Happiest Place on Earth!

4) It's showtime! Take your alone time to see a show, or two, or three! They don't ask, "How many?" so you don't have to worry about being embarrassed. Catch the Aladdin show, It's Tough to Be a Bug!, or Muppet*Vision at Disney's California Adventure and Captain EO at Disneyland. you also get the opportunity to watch World of Color, Fantasmic!, and/or the fireworks without worrying if everyone in your party can see or having little ones on your shoulders so they can see.

5) Explore. Now is the time to do things you always wanted to do that you never get to do. Innoventions, Mark Twain Riverboat/Sailing Ship Columbia, Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes, Tarzan's Treehouse, Main Street vehicles, Main Street Cinema, and The Walt Disney Story Featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln are just some of the things at Disneyland that are sometimes skipped over due to the rush of trying to fit in all the popular rides. Disney Animation at Disney's California Adventure is also a good one to do when solo; you can learn to draw a character (and you can keep doing the show twice, three times, etc.), visit the Sorcerer's Workshop, or Turtle Talk with Crush.

6) Take a tour. If you have the money, be sure to call in advance to take one of the tours the Disneyland Resort has to offer. Click here to see all the tours they have to offer. If money's tight, there are a couple of free tours, and they are both inside of Disney's California Adventure. Boudin Bakery and Mission Tortilla Factory both offer short tours of their space and you may even get a little sample at the end!

7) What to bring? Be sure to bring a bottle of water (you can refill it at a water fountain), sunscreen, a jacket/sweatshirt, money/credit/debit cards/AP or ticket, make-up, chap stick, cell phone (fully charged), keys (if driving), camera (a friendly guest or Cast Member can help you document your trip!), and gum or mints (gum is not available anywhere on Disney property), a pen and autograph book, and the most important part: you can't forget about your ears!

Who can resist the delicious smell of churros? Not me that's for sure. There's something about dough being rolled around in cinnamon and sugar that complete's a day at the Disneyland Resort. If you haven't tried one before, you're missing out! Disney churros are unlike any other churro and I believe it's well worth the money!

Useful Tips at the Disneyland Resort

Snow White Adventure in Fantasyland -- if you touch the brass apple that is at the entrance to the attraction there will be a loud clap of thunder and the witch will cackle with laughter.
Snow White Wishing Well - such a romantic spot. Every 15-20 minutes or so, the song "I'm Wishing" plays and the well echoes the song -- such a pretty spot. It's off to the right side of the castle if you're coming from Main Street.
Downtown Disney - Jazz Kitchen is a great spot to have dinner in the evenings. If you eat downstairs, you can watch the jazz band perform - no extra charge.
There is a rental car agency at Downtown Disney for guests who want to get away for a day and would like their own transportation.
Here's a good spot to watch the fireworks on a crowded night. Go up on the train station platform and stand behind the preferred seating benches. The people there have to sit, & you'll have a panoramic view of the fireworks show. (Plan on staking your spot early.)
Mark Twain Steamboat - Ask the captain if you can help steer the ship – If you do you’ll get a souvenir certificate
For the Aladdin show – sit in the back section of the Orchestra seating -- first row right on the aisle. You get a fantastic view of the show, and the Prince Ali parade passes right in front of you. It's great.
Jedi Academy -- children who wear something that’s eye-catching or who make a small sign are more likely to get picked.
Guests can use their FastPass anytime after the return time, so don't get rid of them if you’re running late.
The rooftop pool at Paradise Pier Hotel offers a nice spot for guests to watch the fireworks, and they pipe the music in.
Take some time to sit for a while in Downtown Disney and ‘people watch’. The different restaurants sometimes offer samples of a few of their menu items around 4 - 4:30pm on different days.
There is a great ‘hidden’ area at the Grand Californian Resort. It’s outdoors, has a fire pit and is a great place to relax and escape the craziness of the parks. The fire place in the lobby is also a nice spot, particularly when there’s live piano music in the background.

There are three little things that aren't widely known that you can do to make your visit to Disneyland even more magical!

1) Disney buttons. Stop by City Hall for a 1st Visit, Anniversary, Birthday, or I'm Celebrating! button. You'll get recognized all day, especially by the cast members. It's sure to make anyone feel special!

2) Disney Character Calls. Who wouldn't want a call from a favorite Disney character? Click here to set up a call from Mickey & Minnie, Buzz & Woody, Sebastian & Ariel, or Mickey & Goofy. Click here to set up a call from one of the princesses, Mickey, or someone from the Hundred Acre Woods. This is good for surprising someone the day before the trip, or even as something to wake up to before going into the parks for the first time!

3) Free autographed photo of a favorite character. That's right! You can get a free autographed photo of your favorite character! If you're staying onsite, you can call in advanced and talk to concierge about having it waiting in your room for that special surprise for someone special! You can also write a letter to your favorite character in exchange for a photo by sending a letter to:

The Court of Angels in New Orleans Square has got to be one of the most beautiful areas in Disneyland. During the day you can sometimes catch Tiana and Naveen here. It's a romantic spot that not many people know of, but as you can see, it's definitely a fine piece of Disney Imagineering.

Using FASTPASS

FASTPASS is available for several of Disneyland's more popular attractions, and is basically an advance reservation system which gives you a ticket to ride an attraction at a specific time. For example, you show up at Splash Mountain and obtain a paper FASTPASS ticket to come back during a one hour window later that day. The time of your ride "window" is printed on the FASTPASS itself, and may begin 35 minutes to several hours after you obtained the FASTPASS, depending on the crowds on the specific date of your visit. When you return at the specified time and present your FASTPASS ticket to the Disney personnel staffing the attraction, you will be allowed to enter a special line reserved for FASTPASS holders which allows you to board the attraction with minimal waiting.

There is no cost for FASTPASS, but in order to obtain one you have to walk to the attraction you wish to ride and insert the park admission ticket for each member of your group into the FASTPASS machine. At this point the machine will issue you the FASTPASS ticket(s). The system is set up so that you can normally only have one FASTPASS active at a time, unless the "return window" is more than two hours away. For example, you wouldn't be able to go to Splash Mountain and obtain a FASTPASS there, then immediately run to Space Mountain and obtain one there too. You would either need to wait until the "ride window" had begun at Splash Mountain before you could obtain the Space Mountain FASTPASS, or until two hours after you received your Splash Mountain FASTPASS, whichever comes first.

Note that you don't need to actually use the first FASTPASS before you obtain the second one. The "ride window" for the first FASTPASS just needs to have arrived, or two hours need to have passed, before you can obtain the second FASTPASS. Despite this rule, one "quirk" in the FASTPASS allows you to obtain a FASTPASS for one specific attraction even if you already hold an "active" FASTPASS elsewhere. This "FASTPASS-favored" attraction is Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin at Disneyland. Due to this quirk, you would be allowed to obtain a FASTPASS for Indiana Jones, for example, and then immediately obtain another one for Roger Rabbit.

The other important thing to note is that the FASTPASS systems between Disneyland and DCA are "disconnected" from one another. This allows you to obtain a FASTPASS at Disneyland, for example, and then walk over to DCA and immediately obtain another one there as well. Disney rarely, if ever, enforces the ending time printed on the FASTPASS. This allows you to use the FASTPASS at anytime after the printed beginning time as long as it's the same day.

Get a taste of California heritage as you watch fresh dough transformed into hot, tasty tortillas. The Mission Tortilla Factory is located in Disney's California Adventure. Here you can get a special behind-the-scenes walking tour and experience special cooking and tasting demonstrations. A Cast Member passes out fresh tortillas, just off the production line, at the end of the tour. On your birthday, receive a one dozen package of tortillas free! Recipe cards featuring recipes which use tortillas as an ingredient, are usually available at the demo kitchen. Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill, which is just behind the tortilla factory, uses the tortillas made in the tortilla factory in their tacos and burritos.

The door may not look any fancier from the others on ornate New Orleans Square. After the Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion rides it seems pretty unspectacular. But if your day at Disneyland in Anaheim, California includes a trip across this threshold and up the art deco glass elevator, you've made it. You have been to Club 33.

The club has only 487 members. The wait for a membership is up to fourteen year and the waiting list closed in April, 2007, and no new names are being accepted. For those lucky few who do get individual memberships, the cost is a $9,500 initiation fee and $3,175 yearly dues. Corporate memberships are $25,000 initially and almost $6,000 in yearly dues.

Do you hate waiting in lines? Do you wish there was some way to map out your day at the parks that gave you a guideline on which rides to go on first, when to ride certain rides, and which rides you benefit from getting a fastpass? Well I was in the same boat as you. I recently downloaded Ridemax, a software program, created by Disneyland fan Mark Winters, that calculates the best time to ride each ride at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure for the least amount of waiting and walking time and then creates an itinerary to fit your schedule.

How do you use Ridemax?

Upon opening the program, you select which park and the date. Data is usually available up to eight weeks ahead,
Then you select the rides you want. It helps if you prepare this in advance, but a description of each ride appears at the bottom of the page when you click on it.
In the Plan Options, you choose what time you will start and end your day. You can also schedule two breaks (for eating or popping over to the other park).
Additionally, you can select whether your group will be walking at a normal or slow pace and whether you have someone in your group willing to act as a "runner" to go get FASTPASSES for the group.
Another variable is whether you are willing to allow late FASTPASS scheduling. This means you could be scheduled to use a FASTPASS after the hour-long window printed on the PASS has expired.
You can also schedule water rides during the warmer hours between 10A-4P.
When the program has finished its calculations, a web page will appear with a timed itinerary telling you when to show up for each ride, how long the wait should be, how many minutes the ride will take and the time you need to walk to the next attraction.

What can I say about Fantasmic? It's pretty much the greatest show Disney has created in life. I say this because I haven't seen World of Color in person, so I can't honestly compare them to each other, but compared to all the fireworks, parades, stages shows, etc. Fantasmic! is the one that I continuously go back to see--- 37 times during my program to be exact. There are many differences between Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Fantasmic! at Disneyland, which ultimately leads me to favor Disney's Hollywood Studios version over it's west coast version.

What exactly do I love about Fantasmic? The music. The villains. The choreography. But most importantly, the ending. I've cried at the ending of all 37 showings of Fantasmic! at DHS that I have attended. Something about the power that Sorcerer Mickey displays on top of that mountain peak just really gets to me. Also seeing all of those characters out on the boat that I never get to see: John Smith, Meg from Hercules, the seven dwarfs. It's just so overwhelming and I love it. The main reasons why I love DHS's version of Fantasmic! is because it pays tribute to The Lion King and Pocahontas, and most importantly it introduces more villains such as a favorite of mine, Scar, and also gives Jafar, who is my absolute favorite, the chance to shine with his own scene.

Fantasmic! is probably the number one thing I miss about my program. I miss being able to just hop in my car and drive over to DHS at 7:00pm to see the 8:00pm showing. I guess Disneyland's version is just going to have to do for now!

Found at 31 Royal Street in New Orleans Square, The Blue Bayou appears to be situated on a mansion terrace overlooking a balmy, moonlit Louisiana bayou. Inside, however, the restaurant is adjacent to the mysterious waterway that carries would-be buccaneers on the Pirates of the Caribbean adventure. The food is decent, but it's the atmosphere you're paying for, and it's worth it. Be sure to get a reservation--there's hardly ever space for walk-ins. When you check in for your reservation, ask if there is a table by the water available; it's quite peaceful!

World of color is an amazing show held at Disney's California Adventure. Designed by Walt Disney Creative Entertainment, this show has over 1,200 fountain nozzles with 1,200 individually controlled underwater LEDs, one for each nozzle. It includes lasers, lights, with a water spray backdrop screen similar to the ones used in Fantasmic! at Disneyland. There are three viewing options:

1) Get a fastpass. Fastpass tickets are available at the Grizzly River Run fastpass distribution area. There are three sections, blue, red, and yellow. Blue is the best section overall, though red and yellow each have their own little sections within that offer a good viewing spot. The earlier you get to the fastpass distribution area, the better chance you get the blue section.

2) Purchase a World of Color Picnic Meal. There are four picnic choices for adults: All-American, European Antipasto, Taste of Asia, and Mediterranean Vegetarian. There are two picnic choices for children: Junior All-American Box and Lunchbox Classic, which include a souvenir World of Color light-up bracelet. All picnic meals include dessert, choice of beverage and one reusable World of Color commemorative tote bag for every 4 picnic meals ordered. Picnics may sell out and are only available for pre-order when displayed on the calendar. With the picnic you get a reserved viewing ticket for either the first or second showing of World of Color. The World of Color Reserved Viewing section in Paradise Park is the preferred location to see this nighttime water spectacular. Though you will receive a spot, reserved viewing is first come, first served, so get there early! Order online to purchase.

3) World of Color Dinner Packages with Reserved or Preferred Viewing. A full-service prix fixe dinner at Ariel's Grotto or Wine Country Trattoria includes tickets to a Preferred Viewing section at Paradise Park. A World of Color lunch is also available at Wine Country Trattoria and includes tickets for Reserved Viewing. How to have fun at Disneyland in the rain.

1) Wear a poncho. This is key. Sure you'll look extra touristy but hey, ponchos are a life-saver when walking around the park in the rain. You could bring your own or purchase one in the parks. You can buy the traditional Disney Parks one with Mickey Mouse or splurge on a more fashionable one that gives you the appearance of everyone's favorite mouse or his girlfriend.

2) See a show. Captain EO is back and playing in Tomorrowland, and the broadway-style performance of Aladdin runs up to four times a day in California Adventure. That’s four opportunities to enjoy 40 minutes of rain-free, indoor Disney fun. Take advantage!

3) Stick to indoor rides. Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, Enchanted Tiki Room, the Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and Tower of Terror are just a handful of the rides the Disneyland Resort has to offer.

4) Enjoy a sit down meal. We're always on the go trying to fit in as many rides as possible and tend to grab a turkey leg or churro to satisfy our growling tummies. Take the time to head on in to one of the many inside locations to sit and enjoy some good food.

5) Shop til you drop! Go ahead and linger in the many shops of the Disneyland Resort. World of Disney in Downtown Disney, Emporium at Disneyland, and Greetings from California at Disney's California Adventure are just some of the shops the grace the resort. Go ahead and shop til you drop!

At the Main Street Cinema you can catch a flick starring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and the rest of the gang in this vintage movie house that plays some of Walt Disney's classic animation shorts. Main Street Cinema continuously runs Mickey Mouse cartoons, all in black and white, on six different screens. Those none of the toons were released as silent films, they are all projected without their soundtracks, with the exception of Steamboat Willie. The films shown in the cinema are:

My most favorite thing to do as a whole is character hunt. While on my Walt Disney World College Program and even now when I go to Disneyland, I spend a great deal of my time doing this, because not only do I love meeting characters, but it's something you can do by yourself on solo trips to the parks and with a group of people. Bring both your Photopass card with you as well as your own camera, because let's face it, who wants to spend tons of money on pictures that could have easily been taken with your own camera? However, Photopass CMs tend to get really good interactive pictures with their own cameras and take a lot of them at that, so having a Photopass card is really convenient. Don't forget your autograph book and pen either!

My favorite character(s) to meet over and over: Mickey, Goofy, and Chip n' Dale
The character(s) I was most excited to meet: Jafar, Pocahontas, and Max
Characters I still want/need to meet: Peter Pan and Wendy, The Mad Hatter, the Fairies, Jack Skellington and Sally, Foulfellow, Maleficent, Tarzan and Jane, Kenai and Koda, Genie and Abu, and The Tweedles.

Favorite character memories:

1) I am a HUGE and I mean HUGE fan of Fantasmic!. During my time in Walt Disney World, I tried my hardest to get a picture of Mickey doing a certain pose that he only does once in Fantasmic! and only in Fantasmic!. The lighting was always too dark to capture this pose on film, so I was determined to ask Mickey himself at a Meet and Greet. I went to EPCOT's Character Spot to see him. When it was my turn, I briefly told him how I loved him in Fantasmic! and that it was my favorite thing at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Then I asked him if he could possibly do me a favor, and it might sound weird, but could he please do the pose with his arms behind his back that he does in the beginning right before it goes to the water screen? AND HE DID IT. I was so excited! I know it sounds strange, but it really made my life.

2) The best place to see a lot of characters in one spot (and it's a good variety too!) is definitely in the Animation Building at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I was on a character spree one day with a friend of mine and we ended up in line to see Captain Hook and the Evil Queen from Snow White. The line cut off happened to be when we were next, so the Character Attendant explained that they had to leave. Then she said the best words I think I've ever heard at Walt Disney World: "The Queen of Hearts and Jafar will be out next." Jafar. Jafar. He is my FAVORITEEEEE villain. I mean, he's great! I'd never met him before so I was super excited. Jafar and The Queen came out and I started fangirling like crazy. The Character Attendant looked at me, and my friend explained how in love I was with Jafar. Finally Jafar made it over to his spot and the Character Attendant grabbed my hand and led me over to Jafar, telling him "I think we've found your biggest fan." His interaction with me was sooooo great. Definitely a highlight of my program!

The Penny Arcade is located on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland Park. It allows you to step back in time for simple family fun. The Penny Arcade is the home to penny candies, old-fashioned penny arcade games, saltwater taffy, and a variety of "pressed penny" souvenir machines. Tip: for 25 cents you can get your fortune read by Esmeralda. The card makes a nice souvenir!

The Animation Academy is a 15-minute session with a Disney animator who teaches guests to draw a Disney character, such as Mickey Mouse or Pooh. Paper and pencils are provided, and guests may take their artwork home. You can even ask the artist at the end if you can have their 'perfect' drawing to take home with you as well!

Cafe Orleans is my absolute FAVORITE place to eat thus far in my journey to eat everywhere in the Disneyland Resort. These are the things I enjoyed most about Cafe Orleans.

Pommes Frites - these things are delicious! I think it was probably my favorite part of my meal. It comes as a fairly large serving, so I recommend sharing this appetizer! Basically it's French fries covered in Parmesan cheese, garlic, and parsley and is served with a Cajun spice remoulade. I have a high tolerance of spicy, so to me it wasn't spicy-- it was just the right amount to compliment the garlic. I will order these every time!
Mardi Gras Chicken Sandwich - It's essentially blackened chicken breast with Cajun spices and an avocado relish on a warm roll. I'm not a huge fan of avocado, but the combination was delicious! It's also served with a mixed green salad. I was so full from eating the entire basket of pommes frites by myself that I only finished half, but when I ate it 3 hours later it was just as good as the first half was. I highly recommend this sandwich if you don't want something as heavy as the Monte Cristo or something as light as a salad.
Quick service - I didn't have a reservation and I was by myself. I was immediately sat and the server was kind and attentive. She also asked me if I had an annual pass (which I do) so that she could give me the discount. I heard her ask the other two tables around me as well and it was nice of her to sort of remind us passholders that we get little perks. Sometimes I forget to ask!
Atmosphere/Location - Sure, it's not the Blue Bayou, but it's in a central location, and the New Orleans Square itself is a very beautifully decorated and heavily detailed land. I also like that I can sit outside and people watch.

The next time I eat here at Cafe Orleans I'm going to try the infamous Monte Cristo and the Chicken Gumbo crepes. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to dessert and get to try the beignets!

So I basically epically failed at updating during my college program. BIG TIME. Honestly, it's pretty much impossible when you have crappy internet, work, and the whole wide World of Disney to explore. For that, I apologize, although I doubt that anyone even still looks at this.

Ahhh what can I say about my Walt Disney World College Program?
It’s a lot of hard work and long hours.
You’ll be tired. You’ll be broke.
And if you can stick it out:
it will be the most amazing thing you will ever do in your life.

If you can/want to do it, do it in the fall.
The holidays at Walt Disney World are AMAZING.
Would not have traded my experience for the world.

Although I’m quite sad to no longer be a Disney Cast Member, I really enjoyed my time in Orlando and made some of greatest friends! If you’re even THINKING about doing the College Program. DO IT. You won’t regret it. It’s not something the weak at heart should attempt, but the reward and memories you get out of the experience is worth the long hours!

I moved back home to San Diego and made the huge decision to buy a premium Disneyland Annual Pass, so I'll update this with all my adventures at Disneyland! Once you live in Disney World for four and a half months, it's hard to face reality. I am truly blessed to live an hour and 20 minutes away from 'The Happiest Place on Earth'.

I truly hope I can keep up with this blog regularly. The blogging I have done has been through Tumblr, but 98% pictures verses actual posts. Anyone who's been with me from the beginning, I'm back, and to anyone who will join me, Welcome!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) Review

Attention: Do not read any further if you do not want to know what happens and have not seen the movie. SPOILER ALERT!

Warner Bros. emblem. Cue tears.

I first must start out by saying I really enjoyed the way they opened this scene. Although Bill Nighy’s approach to Rufus Scrimgeour was different than that of the Rufus in the book, I actually liked it more. Considering they hadn’t introduced him in Half Blood Prince it would have made it a little hard and confusing had he been as angry and headstrong as he is in the book. Hermione wiping her parents memories away and watching her fade from all of the pictures. EXCELLENT ADDED SCENE MR. KLOVES. Malfoy Manor. I love Ralph Fiennes is a perfect Voldemort. I’m so glad we get to really see him interpret Voldemort’s character. Charity Burbage. Lucius, Narciss, and Draco scared and fallen from grace. Snape being like “BITCH I KNOW WHAT’S UP. My what the fuck moment was with the mirror piece because I’m like “where’d ya get that Harry?!” I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see much of the Dursley’s because I really wanted that “I don’t think you’re a waste of space” scene between Harry and Dudley, but otherwise I think it effectively brought the audience to realize that shit just got real, real fast. Also, I’m really glad they took out the long winded “In Memoriam” chapter and allowed us to get the jist of it through news paper clippings.

The Seven Potters. Pure perfection. When Harry opened that door and hugged Ron and Hermione, it was so heartwarming. Fred and George’s comic relief. Hermione handle business, like a boss. Mundungus Fletcher. Moody’s sense of urgency. LUPIN AND TONKS <3. DanRad… naked. “Don’t look at me Bill, I’m ‘ideous.” Harry lets Hedwig go (which makes a little more sense to me anyway.) The departure. The immediate ambush of Death Eaters. Finally Hagrid gets to be a little badass. I’m not mad at the way that scene played out… the whole multiple safehouses with Tonks’ parents really wasn’t necessary to the major plot line and I think personally would have dragged. No Stan Shunpike, but who cares because the way that Hedwig came back to protect Harry was ten times better. Cried like a little baby when that spell hit Hedwig. Fo seriously, so sad.

Fallen Warrior-The Wedding. Mad Eye’s death. “Harry is the best hope we have, trust him.” Cue more tears down my face. Ron stopping Harry from leaving. The Will of Albus Dumbledore, short, informative, and to the point. I actually enjoyed the Ginny/Harry interaction. George being a cockblock. No long-winded and unnecessary events to lead up to the wedding, it was just BOOM. Loved that it was like that. Also, no drawn out conversation between Elphias Doge and Aunt Muriel, just the necessities. No Viktor Krum from what I saw unless he was in the background and I just missed it. Hagrid and Madame Maxime. <3 The Lovegoods, just as strange and abnormal and completely amazing. KINGSLEY FUCKING SHACKELBOLT YOU BADASS MOTHERFUCKER YOU.

Hermione saves the day, like usual. Emma even gets to lighten the mood talking about some damn cake for Harry’s birthday. The whole “Hey Harry now you’re 17 so now you can do magic” is not really addressed although they do mention the trace. The cafe scene was comedic and yet dark and sinister. Well played out. I love the immediate return to Grimmwauld Place and the Dumbledore dust ghost thing. RAB is discussed and figured out. KREACHER RETURNS<3 A little sad that he doesn’t get to bond with the trio and tell the entire story but it was sufficient enough for someone who’s never read the books. THE RETURN OF DOBBY<333 when he and Kreacher bring back Mundungus. Dobby, you are so fucking amazing. AMAZING. By the way, the Ron/Hermione interaction was PERFECT, particularly in Grimmwauld Place. I loved every effing second of cuteness that exuded from their amazing chemistry.

No time wasted, the trio head to the Ministry of Magic. I will say that a lot of stuff happens in the first of the movie. It didn’t feel rushed per say, it just felt like it’s a lot to handle. Anyways, they infiltrate the Ministry to get the locket from Umbridge. Amazing stuff there. I was worried about how this scene would play out and it did not disappoint.

Ron is splinched during disapparation and starts to get annoyed at how much time Harry and Hermione spend together. The camping scenes. Now, in the book these made it the book feel soooo long, but they did a nice job of cutting it down. When Ron left I felt so incredibly sad for Hermione. The dance scene between Harry and Hermione. SO EFFING ADORABLE. Made me love DanRad 982374928374 times more!

Cut to Godric’s Hollow. Harry and Hermione at his parents’ graves. Commence more tears of sadness. The Bathilda Shot scenes… EPIC. SOOO GOOD except for the fact I was confused about the fully furnish baby room when Nagini attacked.

Jump to the Silver Doe. THAT SCENE WAS SO FUCKING AMAZING. Seriously. DanRad naked (again) and when Ron destroys the horcrux… I was legit probably as scared as Ron was. The Harry/Hermione kiss… erhm…

The trio goes to the Lovegoods. The graphics for the Tale of the Three Brothers was very, very good. I like that Xeno says Voldemort (the taboo) and the Death Eaters come. They leave and end up apparating right into a gang of snatchers. A chase happens and they’re caught. Hermione managed the stinging hex to disfigure Harry.

MALFOY MANOR part deux. HELENA BONHAM CARTER YOU AMAZING WOMAN YOU. Every scene the Bellatrix is in is fucking amazing. No death for Wormtail, and no Dean Thomas. DOBBY A MOTHERFUCKING FREE ELF shows up and saves the day. I teared up when reading the book when Dobby… you know… but watching it on screen after all of the amazing speech and dialogue he had in this movie… I CRIED. Like, making noise SOBBING. It’s like you could have told me my brother died. LEGIT SADNESS. Someone here on tumblr quoted him and as I was reading it this morning I teared up and almost started crying again.

Then Voldemort finally grabs the Elder Wand and it’s over.
Just like that. I’m sitting in the theater sobbing and it ends.
No happiness. No reassurance. No nothing.
AND WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL JULY.

I’m usually a book purist but after the disappointment that Order of the Phoenix was, I had to learn to take the movies as just that, movies. Separate entities based on the world created by J.K. Rowling. It was amazing. I want to watch it over and over again. Call it obsessive, but it’s just me not being able to let go and come to terms that it’s almost over. After July 2011, there won’t be anymore. I might die.

Disney College Program Meet and Greet

Today was the first day in a long time that I was genuinely excited about the Disney College Program. I met up in King of Prussia, PA with some girls (Joanna, Julie, Michelle, Kelly, Megan, and Jen) from PA/NY/NJ. First we went to lunch at Bahama Breeze, which was pretty good! Then we went to see Toy Story 3. This would mark my fourth, count ‘em fourth time watching it, but it still had me crying at the end. It was also really cool because we saw it in 3D which I’ve only seen it in 2D.

Next we headed over to the King of Prussia Mall, which, is AMAZING. Every story I’ve ever wanted to shop in, look at, is there. Free People, which I thought was only online, is there. Heritage 1981 is there (by Forever 21), which I also thought was only online, is there too! Not to mention an Aerie store and pretty much everything except the golden gates of heaven. We parted ways around 8:20pm, which left me 40 minutes to shop in the GARGANTUAN mall. I loved every minute of it.

I’ve just recently went shopping for the items I needed for Disney, now I just have to finish shopping for my wardrobe. This meet n’ greet has made me so excited to go down there! Knowing there is such amazing and nice people down there just pumps me up. Only 22 days and 9 hours until check-in on August 9th!

UPDATE!

So I see as I haven't been updating I have slowly been losing followers. Boo! Hahaha my bad. Well I thought I'd give you all an update on the pre-Disney going-ons.

1. Renter's insurance August 9th arrivals received an email that it is required to have Renter's insurance instead of the previous highly suggested. I have heard different things from different people who called/emailed recruiters, some saying it is required and some saying it's not. Better to be safe than sorry, I'm going to look into it. Apparently if your parents have Homeowner's insurance, you may already be covered, or if you get your own policy, they usually only have a year plan, but I've heard you can get an entire year for $100.

2. Buying, packing, and such So I've bought a lot of stuff. I'll do a separate post on my list. I am feeling a bit better on that situation though!

3. Working and saving I haven't saved much since I was on vacation for 2 weeks and missed an entire pay period at all three jobs, but most of the paychecks are going into my savings from now on. I'm going to to use the Hershey paychecks for gas money/emergency money since they aren't that much.

There's only 22 days (21 in 45 minutes hahah) left until check-in day. My driving plans aren't finalized but now instead of my mom, my stepmom is driving down with me to FL. I'll update tomorrow with my packing list though!

Toy Story 3 (2010) Review

So I just got back from the midnight premiere showing whatever at AMC Theaters of Toy Story 3. But before I tell you anything about it, let me give you a little insight on my opinion of the Toy Story series BEFORE I saw this movie.

TOY STORY
I like Toy Story. I however did not like Buzz. I love Tim Allen. I just hated Buzz. His whole character wasn't charming or even interesting. Other than that, I loved RC, Slink, and Woody. It was cute movie, but not in my top 10.
TOY STORY 2
My least favorite movie. Right along with the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I don't know why I didn't like it, but I have a feeling that Jessie was a huge part of it. I didn't like Jessie. I didn't like that song Jessie sang. I just despise Jesse. And the Prospector. What was up with that?!

So as you can see, I wasn't a big Toy Story fan. The main drive for wanting to see this is because of the College Program. I'm also very sketchy about sequels because for some reason Disney never does it justice. They always try to put out a crappy sequel with some tired storyline, so I wasn't expecting much: just some movie about some toys that Disney wants to put out to make a quick buck. But I was so wrong.

TOY STORY 3
Amazing. It had the perfect amount of comedy and heartfelt Disney warmth. Animation was spectacular. Storyline was flawless. The characters had more personality and 'character' than ever. I found myself falling in love with these characters. I saw them from a different perspective that I never thought imaginable. I want to discuss a few of the things in the movie that I loved and hated, so in order not to ruin it for people who haven't watched it yet: STOP READING NOW.

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

Ken was such a great character, but I knew that from all of the "Ken's Dating Tips" videos on youtube. He is hilarious and exactly how I'd imagine a Ken doll would act. He has good inside him, which I loved because I'd have been really sad if he was totally evil.

Buzz Lightyear-- mainly Spanish Buzz. He was come a loooong way from the first movie. He is so genuine and such a good friend.

The love and respect that all of Andy's toys have for one another. I love their disconbobulated little family!

I about DIED in the first 10 minutes when they are discussing how 'they lost some friends along the way' and mentioned Bo Peep. So sad.

I officially started crying when they all held hands and looked at each other as they prepared for impending doom. Even though my brain was two steps ahead and processed that of COURSE the aliens would save the day (of course Pix/Dis 'the claw' was a nicely added touch) but I still couldn't help it.

I completely lost it when Andy was donating them to Bonnie. The way he was describing all of the toys to her just showed that even though he's 17, he still cares so much for these toys! Epecially the part when he takes Woody back like he wasn't going to give it to her.

Barbie. I liked how she was smart. and hilarious. Loved her.

The end credits were great. Nice touch.

The beginning was action packed. It's what hooked me into the story and loved every minute of it.

That beginning stereotypical Pixar short. It was really good.

Pretty much everything was really good.

One thing I did not like: Lotso should have gotten WAY MORE than just being tied to a truck. He was horrible!

I have no idea if this is coherent or makes any sense, but I wanted to write this review while it was fresh in my mind! I'm off to bed, if you haven't watched it, please go see it. It is so good. It is definitely my top movie of 2010 (that is, until Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows comes out XD)

59 Days and counting!

the point that I must emphasize is:
59 DAYS UNTIL DISNEY!

Can you believe it?! In exactly two months I will already be moved into my apartment with my awesome roomies. As I read more and more people's blogs, tumblrs, facebook statuses, tweets, and watch vlogs, I'm getting more and more jealous. But it's ok-- my time will come.

Anywho, as whole bunch of us (and I mean a WHOLE LOT) received an email from Disney Recruiting telling us about how excited they were we were doing the program, yada yada yada, oh by the way we wanted to know if you were willing to switch your arrival date from 8/9/10 to 9/6/10.

Wait, what? Did I read that right??

You heard me. They wanted to know if I wanted to come an entire 28 days later than planned. So I'd be there for 4 months instead of 5. Yeeeeaahhhh, no thanks. So it said if you were interested to call them and let them know, but if you weren't interested to just ignore it.

Roommate notification is up and rolling so everyone who found a roommate through the power of facebook or didn't have one either now has one or is officially linked to their one actual 'roomate'. Apartmentmates are just something you have to hope for when you get down to check-in. Make sure all of the people you want to be in your apartment are standing with you together at check-in for a better chance of getting housed together. So now I am officially roommates with Alyssa B.

On another Disney related note, Toy Story 3 is coming soon, so that's exciting. I can't believe it's been eleven, count 'em 11 years since Toy Story 2. WOW. I'm old.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) Review

I really enjoy doing these and haven't done one for a while--also I have tons of free time with my zero social life here on the east coast and my excessive Disney movie watching, so here's an oldie but goodie.

Honestly, 2001 doesn't sound like a long time ago, but when I stop and think it's like "OMG it's 2010 already!" This was I think Disney's small attempt at creating something the male population would really enjoy. Let's face it: Disney is all about two things, pirates and princesses. That's probably why this movie wasn't all too popular or why I didn't want to see it as a kid. A story about some forbidden world with NO MUSIC?! How can you have a Disney movie with NO MUSIC?!

PROS

I enjoyed Milo's character and the relationship between him and Kida.
The love that Kida had for her culture and her people was great.
Very diverse group of characters. I love Dr. Sweet and Audrey.
Animation was AMAZING. Seriously.

CONS

I'm all about keeping it G and I know it's a cartoon, but HOW THE HECK did that girl fall from a bajillion feet ON HER BACK and was still alive? You're telling me she didn't break any bones in her arms that would have not allowed her to shoot down the balloon? Not only that, but she died like 15 seconds after she shot. Way to come up with a random and yet lame solution to that...
The whole time I kept thinking "THIS IS THE SAME STORYLINE AS AVATAR AND THE CHARACTERS ARE SOOO SIMILAR" and it got me really angry at James Cameron.

Now being nine years older and therefore wiser, I must say I rather enjoyed this movie far more than I thought I would. The storyline was intense, there was romance, and although no way near as awesome as Jafar, there was even a villain. I liked the fact that Kida was even a little on the brown side... someone I can add to my list of costumes! So kudos to you Disney for making a movie that has nothing to do with princesses and successfully keeping me entertained. Now as for the sequel... *shudders*

Tips & Facts about Your First Days

DAY ONE

If you are bringing a vehicle, make sure you have the correct paperwork to register.

A driver's license, proof of insurance*, and your car's registration.

(*must have your name, therefore if it's under your parent's name, you need to have the insurance company write up a note)

Bring a folder or envelope with you.

They give you a lot of paperwork to fill out, take to Casting, read over at home, etc.

You'll need something to carry all these things in.

Bring an umbrella with you!

Florida is known for the afternoon rain showers, so for 10 minutes you get nothing but rain...

Make sure you have the proper documents with you (i.e. Social Security Card, passport, birth certificate) and your On-Board paperwork already filled out.

First you get your program guides, then fill out your housing stuff.

You get your room keys, apartment ID's, and if you drove, you get your parking sticker.

Then you get told which time you go to Casting.

The earlier you arrive and get checked-in, the more likely you'll get the first Casting session.

At Casting, you hand in your paper work, get your work location, meet with a representative from your department who will give you your training schedule, and then do your background check and fingerprinting. Lasts about an hour, hour and a half.

If you're in the morning session, than you will be at the 2:45pm Housing Meeting. Get there early, because it only holds so many people and they WILL turn you away if they don't have room. The Housing Meeting takes about 1.5-2 hours. If you couldn't get into that one, then you would go on the second day. After the housing meeting, you have the rest of the day to yourself.

There is a tent for you to put your luggage. There is also a security guard watching the tent.

Also, it'd be good to look around your apartment to check for damages and check inventory on stuff in your apartment as well and let them know if you are missing anything/somethings damaged.

You can wear casual attire.

Make sure your hair/tattoos are in accordance with the Disney Look and your shoulders are covered for your ID.

DAY TWO

If you didn't get into the Housing Meeting yesterday, today's the day you go-- otherwise, enjoy a free day to yourself!

Depending on the arrival date, there may be a Welcome party at one of the complexes.

I recommend checking it out--sometimes there will be characters there that don't/rarely come out at the parks!

DAY THREE

The third day is traditions. There is an 8am session and a 2pm session. They will assign you a time, you cannot choose, but if you were at check-in/casting early, most likely you'll get the early traditions. Busses pick up an hour and 15 mins before.

Make sure you are in the Disney Look. Make sure nail polish is looks natural/neutral (to be safe I'd just not wear any), wear stockings if you're wearing a skirt, make sure hair is prim and proper, and guys, make sure your face is shaved.

You will get to go to Magic Kingdom as a group.

They take you through the tunnels and then on stage to learn a few things.

WEAR COMFORTABLE DRESS SHOES.

Your feet will thank you.

At traditions, you also get your Disney ID and nametags.

Traditions lasts about 4.5 hours. After that, you have the rest of the day to yourself.

DAY FOUR, FIVE, ETC.

Depending on your role/location/etc. determines your training schedule.

Some will start training the day after traditions--some might start up to even 4 and 5 days after traditions.

Your first day of work is business casual, again, DISNEY LOOK! Usually the day is filled with E-Learning, and computer based training.

Then they will tell you where your departments costuming building is, and your second day will be in costume.

You are allowed to take out 5 costumes at a time. Your first day of work is also when they teach you how to use the hub.

So, as finals are over and I have nothing better to do with my time, I decided that I'd get together an info post about what to bring down there with me. Now, if there is something on here I need to add, please let me know! I also plan on doing some cooking, so that's why there is a lot of random kitchen stuff. There are a lot of things on this list I can just hold off and get when I get down to Florida. I'll have my car, so if the Wal-mart by Vista runs out, I can just cruise on over to a Target or CostCo/BJs/Sam's Club or whatever they have in Florida. This is just the overall things, excluding clothing and shoes. It's not very detailed, but I have a master list that has everything pretty much outlined to the T. Last thing-- since this is an overall list, I'm not personally going to be bringing everything; Alyssa B. is going to be bringing the tv and coffee maker, Cassandra's bringing the router, etc.

So, it's been a painstakingly hard search, but it seems as though no one has really been keeping up with their blogs. I tried to see if I could gather any info from people posting on the Facebook group wall or as a status update but really, not much. My girl Jessika (shameless blog and vlog link) hasn't even started the CP yet but DID go up to visit for a few days and did an amazing job capturing an apartment tour of Patterson and the Vista Way Welcome Pool Party!

Watching this just makes me 93875983475 times more pumped to be there and attend all of the housing/CP only events! Countdown is in the seventies now-- let's go!

Fall Advantage!

Today is the day that the first trickle of Walt Disney World College Programmers check-in to Vista Way! By now they've already checked in, got their housing assignments, looked around the apartment/unpacked a little, and either have already done the housing meeting or will be going to the meeting soon! I am uber jealous, but then I just think, "wait, they needed someone who is already awesome to come in August, so that's why I'm not there yet! Everyone else needs time to get on my level!"

Now I am totally kidding-- I chose to do Fall instead of Fall Advantage because first off, doing the program was a spur of the moment thing, and since I just did this huge move from one side of the coast to the other, I needed time to get acclimated (get a job, finish school, establish some sort of life) and save money toward this. I wish I was rich so I could have just dropped everything and gone now, but at least I'm missing a huge part of the heat, crowds, and humidity. I've been to Disney World in September and sure it's a little hot but there isn't much humidity, so I'd really only have the month of August to sweat to death. Anyways, once people start posting how their first day went (probably later tonight or tomorrow since they have a free day) I'll do my research and try and get a rundown on how things run for you guys.

Disney Cruise Line - Part III

These two following ships have yet to set sail, but I did my best to uncover some information about them, primarily The Disney Dream!

THE DISNEY DREAM

(AND SIMILARLY… THE DISNEY FANTASY)

The Disney Dream will be a much larger ship than its two older fleet-mates. Also the Disney Dream will have wi-fi throughout the ship, and every stateroom will have a flat panel TV. The Disney Dream's horn signal will be the first seven notes of When You Wish Upon A Star, along with the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the horn is considered the most recognizable ship horn of all ships at sea. The Dream will have 1,250 staterooms. The ship will also feature the first water coaster at sea, called "The Aquaduck". The Disney Dream is 45,000 tons larger, 5 decks higher (3 passenger decks), 151 feet longer, it will hold up to 4,000 passengers (over 1,600 more than its sister ships), and has 555 more crew members than the Disney Magic, and Disney Wonder. It will set sail on January 26, 2011!

DINING

Cabanas-- this indoor/outdoor Casual Dining restaurant serves a culinary confection of fresh food favorites. At breakfast and lunch, Cabanas boasts the finest in made-to-order dining; at dinnertime, the restaurant is transformed into a table-service dining room serving Main Dining specialties.

Enchanted Garden-- serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Inspired by the picturesque gardens of Versailles, Enchanted Garden magically transforms from day to night during dining.

Palo-- an adult-exclusive restaurant that serves Northern Italian cuisine for dinner. Additionally, brunch and high tea are offered on select cruises. (sample menu)

Royal Palace-- inspired by classic Disney films like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, Royal Palace serves a mouthwatering menu of culinary delights—fit for a king or a queen—for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

NIGHTCLUBS & LOUNGES

687-- this contemporary sports bar is a sophisticated yet friendly venue where families can partake in activities and games during the day, and adults can unwind with a cocktail at night.

Bon Voyage-- this relaxing bar is a cozy space where families can enjoy a refreshing beverage or snack throughout the day.

Donald's Pool-- a family pool including an 5 ft. deep main pool with a delightful picture of Donald Duck on the pool bottom. There will be a huge 30 x 18 ft LCD screen facing Donald's Pool.

Mickey's Pool-- a children's pool with Mickey Mouse's famous profile and smiling face and, nearby, a twisting one deck high slide.

Nemo's Reef-- this a whimsical water play area is a fun-filled splash deck for younger ones featuring pop jets, bubblers and fountains--starring characters from the hit Disney•Pixar film, Finding Nemo.

Quite Cove Pool-- an adults-only pool featuring a 4 ft. deep main pool. It will include a swim up bar and a series of connecting pools with depths ranging from 4 ft to 6 inch sun-bathing pools.

SPAS AND FITNESS

Senses Spa & Salon-- provides tranquility, pampering and relaxation in an expansive ocean-view sanctuary. Experience a multitude of spa treatments and beauty salon services such as massages, facials and much more

Fitness Center-- a full-service facility hosting a wide variety of aerobic, yoga and Pilates classes, as well as health seminars. Lift on the latest weight machines, step it up on TV-monitor-equipped ellipticals or book an individual session with a personal trainer.

Goofy's Sports Deck-- this open-air activity center is a scenic spot boasting recreational activities such as a 9 hole mini-golf course, walking track, and digital sports simulators that will provide virtual game experiences such as soccer, tennis, basketball, and golf. There will also be a full-sized basketball court that can be converted for use as a soccer pitch, vollyball court, or foosball/table tennis area.

There is no Entertainment section since that has yet to be chosen, but whatever shows will be on The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy are sure to be amazing!

Disney Cruise Line - Part II

THE DISNEY WONDER

This ship is the second cruise ship operated by Disney Cruise Line and was launched in 1999. The Disney Wonder alternates between 3- and 4-night cruises. Visiting Nassau and Disney's own private island Castaway Cay, with the 4-night cruise offering an additional day at sea. The Disney Wonder will be relocated to Los Angeles, California. The arrangement will be for two years, with a potential extension for three additional years. On September 11, 2009 Disney Cruise Line announced that the Wonder will have 18 and 7 night sailings to Alaska during the 2011 summer.

DINING

Animator’s Palate (also my favorite restaurant)-- which celebrates the magic of Disney animation. This dining experience starts off with the room being black and white, and as your meal progresses, the magic of Disney takes hold and by dessert, you are enveloped in the beautiful and colorful animation from beloved Disney films. Triton’s (my 2nd favorite restaurant on the ship)-- serves contemporary American fare for breakfast and lunch, and continental cuisine with a French flair amid a more elegant setting for dinner. The restaurant is themed after the hit Disney movie, The Little Mermaid. (sample menu)

The Golden Mickeys-- an approximate 50-minute, musical live show presented as an awards ceremony in which characters from Disney movies are nominated in a series of categories. It also has two showings and is performed in the Walt Disney Theatre. This show is always a fun one! They even have a ‘red carpet’ to walk down with a reporter asking all the juicy questions!

Toy Story--The Musical is an approximate hour-long, musical live show based on the hit Disney•Pixar film. The light-hearted story of Woody and Buzz Lightyear's friendship has two showings and plays exclusively in the Walt Disney Theatre. I’m not a Toy Story fan, but it is still a rather good show.

Remember the Magic: A Final Farewell is an approximate 50-minute live show that revisits some of your cruise's most memorable moments, starring a host of variety acts, theatre performers and Disney Characters from your cruise. It plays the day before Debarkation on 7-night or longer cruises.

NIGHTCLUBS & LOUNGES

Disney Cruise Line - Part I

I thought that I'd continue with the trilogies/sagas/what-chama-call-its, this time with the Disney Cruise Line. There are two ships: the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. A third ship, the Disney Dream is scheduled to set sail in 2011, and a fourth ship, the Disney Fantasy, is scheduled for 2012. There are different lengths of cruises you can take ranging from 3-14+ days--depending on which destination you are looking for--Bahamas, Europe, Transatlantic, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Mexican Riviera, and Alaska & Pacific coast. Disney also owns its own island, Castaway Cay.

Everyone knows about the magic the theme parks of Disney brings to people, young and old. However, what I am most excited about and is sometimes overlooked is the Disney Cruise Line. I have been on only two cruises--both on the Disney Wonder--and both times have been some of the best times ever. Disney has a certain caliber of excellence that the Carnival, Princess, and Royal Caribbean cruises I’ve been on have failed to match.

THE DISNEY MAGIC

Built in 1998 by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the Disney Magic can hold approximately 2,400 passengers. Since the summer of 2000, the Disney Magic has been offering weekly cruises to Castaway Cay and multiple Caribbean islands.

DINING

Lumiere’s (a restaurant I’ve been wanting to eat at, badly!)-- serves contemporary American cuisine for breakfast and lunch in a casual setting, and French-inspired continental cuisine amid a more refined atmosphere for dinner. This is the only place I'd buy a $22 California Roll... and I've heard it's to die for! Not to mention they have Valrhona Chocolate Cake: warm chocolate cake w/ molten center, cappuccino caramel crunch ice cream, sweet whipped cream, and coffee caramel sauce. Say WHAT?!

01. JIKO--THE COOKING PLACE - ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE

OMG. This is the FIRST place I want to eat when I get down there! When I was looking at the menus on Allears.net, when I reached Jiko my mouth was watering at the dee-liteful options, mainly the Oak-grilled Filet Mignon served with macaroni and cheese and red wine sauce. Or, what about the Swahili Curry Shrimp: served with East African curry sauce, artichokes, and coconut rice? I know what I'm getting for an appetizer-- Pokanoket Farm Seared Ostrich Filet or the Barbecue Chicken Flatbread... or both.

Ohhhh my stomach is growling due to the hungry it's enduring. I long to eat at all of these places for sure during my fall program! Anyways, on to today's Follow Friday!

Animal Kingdom -- Part I

A lot of people don't like Disney's Animal Kingdom. I don't know why. I rather enjoy it, although it does always feel 928475 times hotter in this theme park than any of the others. It doesn't have as much to do as the other parks, but it is home to some of the greatest shows: Finding Nemo--The Musical and Festival of the Lion King. I'm really sad they discontinued Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends, but I'm glad I got to see it one last time!

Although it's not as famous as Magic Kingdom, in many ways Disney's Animal Kingdom is much more magical. Set in 500 acres of lush landscapes, Disney's largest theme park features a real safari through a 110-acre African wilderness, two Broadway-style shows, a thrilling roller coaster and up-close encounters with live animals. The park's mission: to make it easy--and fun--to appreciate the beauty, magnificence, and importance of the animal world.

THE OASIS

This lush garden makes you feel as if you've been plunked down in the middle of a rain forest. Cool mist, the aroma of flowers, and playful animals and colorful birds all enliven a miniature landscape of steams and grottoes, waterfalls, and glades fringed with banana leaves and jacaranda.

DISCOVERY ISLAND

Primarily the site of the Tree of Life, this land is encircled by Discovery River, which isn't an actual attraction but can be viewed from a bridge in Harambe. The island's whimsical architecture, with wood carvings handmade in Bali, adds plenty of charm and a touch of fantasy to this park hub. The verdant Discovery Island Trails that lead to the Tree of Life provide habitats for kangaroos, lemurs, Galapagos tortoises, and other creatures.

DINOLAND U.S.A.

Just as it sounds, this is the place to come in contact with re-create prehistoric creatures, including the fear-inspiring carnotaurus and the gentle iguanodon. The landscaping includes live plants that have evolved over the last 65 million years. In collaboration with Chicago's Field Museum, Disney has added a complete, full-scale skeleton cast of Dino-Sue--also known as "Sue"--the 65-million-year-old Tyrannosaurus rex discovered near the Black Hills of South Dakota.

ASIA

Meant to resemble a rural village somewhere in Asia, this land is full of remarkable rain-forest scenery and ruins. Grouping of trees grow from a crumbling tiger shrine and two massive towers, one representing Thailand, the other Nepal.

AFRICA

This largest of the lands is an area of forests and grasslands, predominantly an enclave for wildlife from the continent. The focus is on live animals at the key attractions. Harambe, on the northern bank of Discovery River, is Africa's starting point. Inspired by several East African coastal villages, this Disney town has so much detail that it's mind boggling. Signs on the apparently peeling stucco walls of the buildings are faded, as if bleached by the sun, and everything has a hot, dusty look.

RAFIKI'S PLANET WATCH

Take the Wildlife Express steam train to this unique center of eco-awareness. This land is divided into three sections. At the Conservation Station, you can meet animal experts and gather round for a critter encounter, enjoy interactive exhibits, learn about the worldwide efforts to protect endangered species and their habitats, and find out ways to connect with the conservation efforts in your own community. At the Habitat Habit! section, cotton-top tamarins play while you learn how to live with all earth's animals. And lastly, the Affection Section, where you get free rein in face-to-face with goats and some rare domesticated critters from around the world.

CAMP MINNIE-MICKEY

This Adirondack-style land is the setting for live performances as well as meet-and-greet trails. It has a rustic and woodsy theme, like a summer camp. It's also a cul-de-sac, meaning you can't get to any other part of the park without backtracking to Discovery Island. It's a fairly small land, about the size of Mickey's Toontown in Magic Kingdom.
