Look for the Bare Necessities...

So, as finals are over and I have nothing better to do with my time, I decided that I'd get together an info post about what to bring down there with me. Now, if there is something on here I need to add, please let me know! I also plan on doing some cooking, so that's why there is a lot of random kitchen stuff. There are a lot of things on this list I can just hold off and get when I get down to Florida. I'll have my car, so if the Wal-mart by Vista runs out, I can just cruise on over to a Target or CostCo/BJs/Sam's Club or whatever they have in Florida. This is just the overall things, excluding clothing and shoes. It's not very detailed, but I have a master list that has everything pretty much outlined to the T. Last thing-- since this is an overall list, I'm not personally going to be bringing everything; Alyssa B. is going to be bringing the tv and coffee maker, Cassandra's bringing the router, etc.

Today's IN THE SPOTLIGHT is...
BAGHEERA!
I love this crazy jungle cat! He is extremely wise and insightful-- and while I love Baloo's carefree spirit, Ol' Baggy knows what's up!

Mowgli: Oh, Baloo, I wanna stay with you.
Baloo: Certainly, you do.
Bagheera: Oh? And just how do you think he will survive?
Baloo: "How do you think he will... ” What do you mean how do you think he... He's with me, ain't he? And I'll learn him all I know.
Bagheera: Oh? That shouldn't take too long.

Mowgli: Baloo, get up. Oh, please get up.
Bagheera: Mowgli, try to understand.
Mowgli: Bagheera, what's the matter with him?
Bagheera: You've got to be brave, like Baloo was.
Mowgli: You... you don't mean... Oh, no. Baloo.
Bagheera: Now, now. I know how you feel. But you must remember, Mowgli. Greater love hath no one than he who lays down his life for his friend. Whenever great deeds are remembered in this jungle, one name will stand above all others: our friend, Baloo the bear.
Baloo: He's cracking me up.
Bagheera: The memory of Baloo's sacrifice and bravery will forever be engraved on our saddened hearts.
Baloo: Beautiful.
Bagheera: This spot where Baloo fell will always be a hallowed place in the jungle, for there lies one of nature's noblest creatures.
Baloo: I wish my mother could have heard this.
Bagheera: It's best we leave now. Come along, Man Cub.
Baloo: Hey, don't stop now, Baggy. You're doing great! There's more, lots more!
Bagheera: Why, you big fraud! You-you-you four-flusher! I-I'm fed up!...

Be Prepared

So I've been attempting to start getting stuff ready before I arrive down in Florida on August 9th. Knowing me, a last minute kind of gal, I'll forget something in the hub-bub and excitement of the car trip down! I also need to start now because I a) have three jobs that keep me very occupied and b) this summer will be a whirlwind! So, in the words of Scar, I would like to "be prepared."

I am starting a workout regiment. I would like to lose 30 pounds before I get to Disney-- in reality, I probably could only lose 15-20. Technically I'm not 'big' but that last 10 lbs is going to be toning. I don't know if I have that kind of time. So the sooner I start this, the more likely it is to succeed?

I also need to start getting my car in tip-top shape for the almost 17 hour drive. My plan is to drive to my dad's house in Pikesville, MD to say goodbye. After that I'm going to pick up my mom who is flying in from San Diego at the Baltimore/Washington International Airport. From there we will make our drive down to Florida, perhaps staying at some other relatives houses instead of paying for a hotel. Alyssa B and her mom (and possibly an entire posse) will be caravanning with us. Anywho, I just got my car inspected so I have a new ball joint (whatever that is), tire (I'm probably going to buy three more, might as well right?), battery, got an alignment, and an oil change, though I'm going to need a new one by August. I'd rather have as much of this stuff out of the way so I'm not scrambling down in Florida. We're staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree which is .7 miles from Vista Way, so anyone else staying there-- CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU! Also, if you are a 08/09/2010 arrival or someone who is in the DCP and just wants to meet all of us newbies, we're having a Meet & Greet dinner at the Pop Century Resort at 6:00pm. Check out the facebook group specifically for the dinner for changes!

Some things going down this summer: I'm heading back to California for a visit. I'll be there from June 22nd-July 4th. I'm telling you know I probably won't be blogging at ALL during that time, because I will be too busy hanging out with my dearest friends whom I've missed oh so much. Also during my stay, a Disneyland WDWCP Fall 2010 meet and greet is in the works, so I'll be attending that, as well as the Electric Daisy Carnival with my bestest friend Sami! Hopefully (sheesh this is a lot of money!) Alyssa and I will be attending the Lady Gaga concert in Boston. We're both broke as a joke at the moment, so we'll see how that turns out!

I still have tons of clothes and things to buy. This is worrying me. I need to really start to save my money for practice for Florida. I've also been 'practice grocery shopping'. I really want to learn how to cook before the DCP, but I know realistically I am lazy and will be better off just eating my taquitos, Hot Pockets, and Pizza Rolls. So I spent $66 tonight on: Hot (Lean) pockets (5 for $10), sandwich meat (3 for $10 which you can freeze so it doesn't spoil), cheese, egg whites, Hot Cheetos, cereal, soy milk, organic cookies, Crystal Light packets (3 different kinds), 3 Kids Cuisine tv dinners, orange juice, pita bread, english muffins, whole wheat bread, apple wedges, Amy's organic mac 'n cheese, jello pudding, and string cheese-- all of which are considerably healthy. I figure if I take out things like milk, orange juice, bread, and sandwich meat, aka things we could share as a household, my budget is on track and I know I could live off of this for a month/month and a half. I'm trying out new things so I can see what I will eat instead of waiting until I get down to FL and waste my money throwing out things I won't eat/don't like.

Now for today's IN THE SPOTLIGHT!
MRS. NESBITT!
Yes, I know that technically it's Buzz Lightyear. However, Buzz is much more appealing to me with a pink apron and sun hat on. Apparently, Mrs. Nesbit was the name of one of Pete Docter's (writer/lead animator) grade school teachers. Interesting.

Woody: What happened to you?
Buzz: One minute you're defending the whole galaxy, and, suddenly, you find yourself sucking down Darjeeling with... Marie Antoinette and her little sister.
Woody: Let's get you out of here Buzz...
Buzz: Don't you get it? You see the hat? I am Mrs. Nesbitt!
Woody: Snap out of it, Buzz!
Buzz: I-I-I... you're right. I'm sorry, I am just a little depressed, that's all. I can get through this.

Slimey, Yet Satisfying...

So, I've fallen into this horrible habit called 'not posting regularly'. And I'm not going to make up some excuse like "oh I've been busy" yada-yada-yada because even though I have, I have still had time to blog, just couldn't think of anything. Then it turned into "eh whatever". So sorry. So let's begin again.

My name is Jazmine and this is my blog about my experience on the Walt Disney College Program, Fall 2010 as a Merchandise Cast Member...

Ookay, maybe not that far.

Because I haven't been doing my research on DHS (which I will get to, I promise), I thought I would post about someone who has been an inspiration and source of wisdom to me ever since I was little. For this coming week I will be posting about all things Disney that have made an impact on my life, with a new segment at the [most magical place on earth] entitled: IN THE SPOTLIGHT. I feel that today's SPOTLIGHT doesn't get a lot of credit since his time was cut so short. No, it's not Walt Disney. It's...

Mufasa, Mufasa Mufasa!
''Oh it tingles me!" That's right, Mufasa. After re-watching the Lion King for probably the 9238326 time, I noticed certain things that I hadn't before. I think 99% of children watching this back in the day were DEVASTATED when Mufasa fell to his death. And if I just ruined that for you, good, because there is no excuse to why you shouldn't already know that.

"Simba, you have forgotten me. You have forgotten who you are and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more that what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life. Remember who you are. You are my son, and the one true king. Remember."

"Simba, let me tell you something my father told me. Look at the stars. The great kings of the past are up there, watching over us

Mufasa: "Simba I'm very disappointed in you."
Simba: "I know."
Mufasa: "You could have been killed! You deliberately disobeyed me! And what's worse, you put Nala in danger!"
Simba: "I was just trying to be brave like you."
Mufasa: "I'm only brave when I have to be. Simba, being brave, doesn't mean you go looking for trouble."
Simba: "But you're not scared of anything!"
Mufasa: "I was today. I thought I might lose you."
Simba: "I guess even kings get scared, huh? But you know what?"
Mufasa: "What?"
Simba: "I think those hyenas were even scareder."
Mufasa: "'Cause nobody messes with your dad!"

"A king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Simba, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king."

Mufasa: "Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all of the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope."
Simba: "But Dad, don't we eat the antelope?"
Mufasa: "Yes Simba, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life.
